We are regular people who want to use our devices in peace.

Ouzel is a project with one goal: make blocking ads and trackers something anybody can do for any device they own.

Who’s building it

Cameron Davis, founder of Ouzel
Cameron Davis, founder of Ouzel.

Ouzel is run by Cameron Davis, a network and software engineer with several years of experience designing powerful but easy-to-use products.

Cameron is from Denver, Colorado. He previously engineered internet routers that fly on high-altitude balloons, and founded a company. He enjoys building computers in his free time.

Why Ouzel exists

Your TV, phone, and every smart device in your home may report what you watch, say, and do to companies you don't know exist. They use this data to serve you highly specific ads that interrupt your browsing and relaxation. The tools that stop this today, like DNS filters, custom router firmware, or a spare computer in a closet, assume you enjoy configuration and maintenance.

Most people don’t, and you shouldn’t have to. Ouzel puts that protection into a box that you plug into your router and can ignore entirely. If you want to see how it works, it takes about a minute to read.

What we believe

You should be able to control the devices you own
Devices shouldn't ship your data off behind your back so the manufacturer can send you targeted ads. We design a product to keep that data in check.
Your tech should not pry into your private life
Smart devices use AI and microphones to watch your habits and report your activity. Ouzel instead watches the habits of your devices and reports to you.
Companies should explain what data they collect
Anything we receive is explained in plain language, and the reporting that helps us improve device profiles can be switched off without losing a single feature.

The specifics of what the device can see, store, and send are set out in Trust, and what this website collects is in the privacy policy.

Where the project is today

Ouzel is an early prototype, not a product you can buy yet. The hardware already blocks over 90% of the ads we test it against, and we expect production units to be available in late 2027.

Details will change as it’s developed. The people on the waitlist get first access to hardware and the largest say in how the project progresses.
